Winning Essay
I am writing this letter to tell you why I believe that my Mother, Karen Wilder, should win this prize. To start out, she is a wonderful person. Loving, caring, kind, she is all of the above. She will love her family until the end. The ideal mother, she wants nothing but happiness in the family.
She
is a committed mom, having home schooled her kids for eight years. Her children
are now ready to go to public school, and she is searching for a nice place
to work. It is a difficult to make the change, but it was bound to happen
eventually. Her children, aged thirteen and nine, love her very much. They
have grown very close with her because of the home schooling. It has helped
them to grow in self-confidence and to know what is right, not to give into
peer pressure.
A few months ago Karen was told she had breast cancer. It was a devastating blow, but she was tough through it all. She had surgery, and in no time she was back on her feet. For most it takes a week or more to recover, but for this dedicated mom it took only a few days. She was soon back taking care of her family.
It has been tough these past few years, her husband lost his job due to the economy, and they had to move to Wisconsin from Indiana. Though difficult, the whole family supported each other and pulled through. They are now in the process of renting a home, which will be very exciting.
Now, I am not saying that she is perfect. Like everybody she has her faults. Everyone looses their temper, lashes out, and says things that they do not really mean. She tries very hard to do the right thing. I believe she really deserves this prize, for it would be nice for her have the night off. She is a great person who loves her family very much.
